Ellamatta

Commissioned to create a grand focal point for 4 Parramatta Square, Ellamatta references Michael Johnson’s primal relationship between earth and water, river and sky based on his childhood memory of Parramatta River. Movement of colour was central to Johnson’s vision of playing to vitality and emotion.

Residing in the lobby of 4 Parramatta Square, and painted across four separate panels, before linking into one single piece, this is one of the artist’s largest pieces to date.
